HT&J was awarded by the City of Houston to provide engineering design for paving and drainage improvements to 34th Street from Hempstead Road to Bolin Road. 34th Street is a 6-lane divided major thoroughfare with surrounding light industrial businesses and residential areas. The proposed roadway improvements utilized the full available 100-feet ROW and included widening lanes, medians, and sidewalk widths to meet current standards.
Existing storm sewer capacities were evaluated based on newly published Atlas 14 rainfalls. Drainage improvements included increasing storm sewer sizes and a new detention pond.
