City of Pearland Pine Hollow Subdivision Drainage Study

The Pine Hollow Subdivision is located in northeast Brazoria County within the City of Pearland. It is an approximately 200 acre residential community served by curb-and-gutter storm sewer systems, ultimately outfalling into the Mary’s Creek Bypass Channel. The community experienced significant flooding during Hurricane Harvey. The City contracted HT&J to provide a drainage analysis and identify problem areas.

HT&J evaluated solutions utilizing a XPSWMM 1D/2D hydrology & hydraulic model. Recommended drainage improvements included detention pond improvements to its existing outfall pipe and overflow weir, and increasing inlet capacity and storm sewer pipe sizes. The combined improvements reduced the flooding by approximately 1-feet and provided significant improvements to the subdivision.
